Yule tide greetings. Empty
PostSubject: Yule tide greetings.   Yule tide greetings. Icon_minitimeMon Dec 19, 2011 1:22 am

Hi everyone, I hope you all are having a wonderful year. So how are you going to enjoy the winter solstice this year? C:

The Winter Solstice (Also called Yule which is pronounced EWE-elle) is on the 22nd of December this year. The lore is about the goddess giving birth to the sun god. It is also the day that is the longest night and shortest day. We celebrate the birth of the new year, the birth of the Sun God, as well as the beginning of winter.( From what I recall The winter Solstice is when winter begins, which varies from December 20th to 23rd.) To be with your family is also one of the things Yule is about. Also some spells such as for love, peace, and harmony can help to bring together.

Colors: Red, green, and white, gold, silver, orange and yellow.

Stones: Rubies, Bloodstone, Garnet, Diamonds, and emeralds.

Food: Cookies, Caraway cakes soaked in cider, eggnog, fruits, nuts, pork dishes, turkey, ginger tea, spiced cider, wassail (Wassail is a spicy holiday drink), or lamb's wool (ale, sugar, nutmeg, roasted apples).

Herbs: Bayberry, blessed thistle, evergreen, frankincense holly, laurel, mistletoe, oak, pine, sage, and yellow cedar.

Here are some links to those who wish to know more about it.
